Generator operation
The SYSTEM menu gains Patch Generator, Pattern Generator, Kit Generator and Phrase Generator. Choose a generator and path. YES generates while keeping that screen or menu selection available for another result.
On a percentage-control screen, press DATA/LEVEL to edit, turn it to adjust, then press again to finish. NO cancels an active edit; outside editing it returns to the parent menu. DATA never generates.
Paths and scope
| Generator | Scope | Paths and controls |
|---|---|---|
| Patch | Selected audio track sound; MIDI tracks are refused. | Abstract, Rhythmic → IDM / Noise, Melodic, Free. Brutality on Abstract, IDM and Noise. |
| Kit | All 16 sounds. MIDI tracks become generated audio tracks. | Abstract, Rhythmic → IDM / Noise, Melodic, Free. Independent Brutality on IDM and Noise. |
| Pattern | Complete sequence, with tempo and compressor generation. | Abstract, Rhythmic → IDM / Noise, Melodic. Density on every path; Brutality on IDM and Noise. |
| Phrase | Selected track sequence; other sequences preserved. | Abstract, Rhythmic, Melodic. No parameter-editing screen or rhythmic submenu in DigiRust. |
Abstract
Evolving textures, drones, effects and electroacoustic material. No abstract track has a permanent timbral archetype.
Rhythmic
IDM generates percussion and rhythmic variations. Rhythmic Noise applies stronger distortion, modulation and reduction to sounds, with noise-oriented sequencing.
Melodic and Free
Melodic generates pitched sounds and sequences. Free randomizes sound parameters within bounds; it is available in Patch and Kit only.
Density and Brutality
Density influences active tracks and note-event population. Brutality shapes source complexity, modulation, drive and reduction in sounds, or the behavior of rhythmic sequences. It is not just a volume control.
Percentages run from 0–100. Pattern Density starts at 30%; exposed Brutality controls start at 35%. Each tool/path retains its own values during operation; they reset on restart. Percentage bars invert text contrast under the fill.
Kit generation preserves the sequence and non-sound kit settings, including the compressor. Pattern generation has separate compressor logic. Abstract kits retain fixed 35% sound treatment in DigiRust; Melodic and Free kit behavior is unchanged.
Rhythmic sound roles
Tracks 1–8 retain percussion roles, including kick on 1. Tracks 9–12 independently draw abstract roles and families; 13–16 independently draw melodic roles and families. Upper tracks have no permanent bass or lead assignment. Abstract and Melodic patch paths work independently of track position.
Control All macros
Hold TRACK and turn an encoder. The macro reaches corresponding parameter positions across every subpage of SYN, FILTER, AMP and FX. Releasing TRACK leaves edits in place; stock TRACK + NO undo remains available.
Drone latch and Perform Kit
With Grid Recording disabled, hold an audio track's live trig first, then tap FUNC. Release both to retain the gate. Repeat to unlatch; STOP releases all latches. FUNC-first stock gestures remain intact. Independently decaying sound components can still fade.
Enable Perform Kit with FUNC + PRESET/KIT, modify the parameters, then exit with the same gesture. Restored parameters reach latched voices without another note-on. Oscillator phase, envelopes and effect tails are not rewound. Generators release active latches before updating content.
