What changed

Each release candidate changes one thing and is tested on a real Model:Cycles before it's published. The patcher always builds the current release.

RC21 Current 13 October 2026

Keep a break as a pattern.

  • While you hold PAGE during playback, the step keys show the bank's 16 patterns: lit if they have trigs, flashing for the one playing.
  • Press a step key to store the break you're hearing in that slot, as a new pattern or over an existing one. It keeps the rhythm, the movement as locks, the ratchets as retrigs and the filter and distortion pushes.
  • Built on RC19, with its audio code untouched, so playback feels exactly like RC19.
  • The patcher is now a web page, so it runs on any computer. It replaces the macOS app.

Manual: keep a break as a pattern

RC20 Withdrawn 13 October 2026

Moved interface code to make room for future features. Playback could stutter and the interface felt slower, so it was withdrawn; RC21 starts again from RC19.

RC19 13 October 2026

Per-track pan.

  • FUNC + VOLUME+DIST pans the selected track, with a large P on screen.
  • It's an offset applied at the mixer and saved with the sound. Pan locks keep moving the sound, shifted by it. In Control All it moves all six tracks.

RC18 13 October 2026

Live breaks.

  • Hold PAGE while a pattern plays for breakcore-style variations: beat repeats, half and double time, reversed bars, chops and accelerating rolls, with panning, timbre, filter, distortion, octave and ratchet movement.
  • Release PAGE and the pattern plays as written.

RC17 12 October 2026

  • One rhythmic path. The generators focus on rhythmic noise, with texture tracks drawn from the old Abstract path.
  • New generator gestures. Steps 1–15 set a level, holding step 16 for 1.5 s generates, and the knobs keep their normal functions.
  • LYRA becomes the generators' texture voice.

RC16 12 October 2026

LYRA replaces CHORD. Four cross-modulating oscillators inspired by the SOMA LYRA-8, at about half of CHORD's CPU cost, and almost none when silent.

RC15 12 October 2026

  • Latched Control All on FUNC + TRK: every knob moves all six tracks, overrides locks and reverts instantly.
  • The kick gets seven distinct characters.
  • Parameter locks stay close to each track's sound.

RC14 12 October 2026

  • Fixed: the filter and the distortion now respond to your changes.
  • Generated patterns spread tracks across the stereo field.

RC13 12 October 2026

DJ resonant filter on every track, on FUNC + PITCH.

RC12 12 October 2026

Noise gate in the distortion stage, so silence and quiet tails no longer turn into static.

RC11 12 October 2026

Fixed: older projects could switch the distortion on with random settings, overloading the audio and dropping the USB connection.

RC10 12 October 2026

  • Per-track distortion, on FUNC + SWEEP, set by the generators.
  • Every generated track plays at full volume.
  • The Model-TG sample mod is removed.

RC5 – RC9 11 October 2026

  • RC9: the kick is rebuilt from measurements of the stock KICK, with a real low end. No more laser or siren sounds.
  • RC8: Pattern plays 3–6 tracks, always including the kick.
  • RC7: a punchier kick, locked to the chosen root.
  • RC6: Phrase and Pattern rewritten: lock lanes, lock-only steps, microtiming, rolls, ratchets and trig conditions.
  • RC5: Patch and Kit rewritten: about 30 harsher sound recipes, each with an LFO, distortion, sends and pan.

RC1 – RC4 10–11 October 2026

  • RC4: a per-pattern scale and root menu (PAGE + pad 5).
  • RC3: stronger kicks and envelopes.
  • RC2: Patch audition and fixed Kit roles.
  • RC1: the first generators: Patch, Kit, Phrase and Pattern.
